Tourmaline

Tourmaline occurs in many different colours and some crystals show zones of several distinct colours. Commercial terms include: rubellite (red), indicolite (dark blue), paraiba (electric blue to green), watermelon (pink and green). Stones may be heat treated to improve colour (esp. paraiba). Hardness: 7-7.5 (Mohs).
