Vesuvianite

Vesuvianite, also known as idocrase, is a silicate mineral which was first discovered on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius in southern Italy. Completely transparent material is rare; it is usually included and/or slightly cloudy in appearance. It is not normally treated. Hardness: 6.5 (Mohs).
